I need to preface this by saying I am only writing this on tumblr because I have eighteen followers, which means that really only six people look at my feed.

I am behind. At least, I feel like I am. I know I’ve accomplished a lot of the goals I set for myself while in high school and some in college, some goals I didn’t know were truly goals, and then there are some that I haven’t. Even after all the gratification of surpassing obstacles and reveling in achievements, I can’t help but feel like all of my friends are becoming adults. Engagements, marriage, babies, you name it. Where am I at? I have a cat, who is fabulous.

My boyfriend and I have been in a relationship for almost three years (anniversary next Tuesday!) and I couldn’t be happier. He is the love of my life; everything I wanted and didn’t know that I wanted, and everything that I need. We have a beautiful townhome, and are beginning the search and saving for our first home together. I am in no way displeased with my romantic situation, or any aspect of my life for that matter. There is just part of me that feels like I should be planning my wedding and beginning college funds for my future children.

Why is this bothering me so much - does it really matter? In a way, absolutely not. I know in my heart I will be in love and with Matthew for the rest of my life. Even if that means he never proposes, we never get engaged, we never get married, I won’t care. My end goal out of all of this is to be with the person I care for and love the most, and it’s him. With or without the ring.

I think if I remember that throughout all of the up close hand photos on Facebook, sonogram shots on Instagram, and wedding party hashtags on Twitter, I can overcome this. :)
